History

Abdelmalek Essaâdi University was founded under Dahir No. 189-144 dated Rabia I 23, 1410 (October 23, 1989) supplemented by Dahir No. 177-398 of October 16, 1975 relating to the creation of universities.


The name of the University was given in honor of the Saadian Sultan Abu Marwan Abd al-Malik whose troops were victorious at the battle of Oued El-Makhazine also called Battle of the Three Kings against the King of Portugal Sebastian I. and its allies and located next to Ksar El Kébir.


Abdelmalek Essaâdi University is located in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region in northern Morocco. The region occupies a strategic position facing two seas: the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and is only 14 kilometers from Spain. This region is the second industrial pole of Morocco, it represents the powerful attractions for international investments and holds the best growth rate of the country.
